Years ago it was the era of JCPenney studios. We all probably have the same version of newborn or milestone photos. Some assortment of paper backdrops, maybe a rocking chair prop, and guess what? Mom was never in the picture.

As you look through different portfolios and websites, take note of what you are drawn to most. Do you prefer the images in-home in a lounge set, snuggling with a baby in a matching jumper? You may prefer more of a lifestyle look. Maybe you notice you’re much more drawn to the elevated look. The moms always seem to be in a luxury dress, makeup done, and baby is in a tightly wrapped swaddle. You’re looking for a Fine Art Newborn Photographer. This is someone who offers dress options for mom, has preferred makeup vendors on hand, and usually access to a studio.
Baby Photographer Personality –
You will want someone that you feel comfortable with. Someone that can make you relax and laugh! You don’t want to feel insecure with your newborn photographer. Pay attention to their social media and what they talk about on their website. These are all little glimpses into their personality that can help you decide if you’ll enjoy your time together.
Collection Pricing –
This is very important. You get what you pay for. Ask any newborn photographer you are considering for a full investment guide. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Someone is only charging $200 to care for you and your baby? You may not get the results you’re expecting. Be realistic when planning and understand that you may need to save up for your dream photographer! Begin looking for your newborn photographer as soon as your find out you’re expecting, you don’t need to reach out immediately but it will give you a good idea of what your investment will be.
