How to Prepare for Your Newborn Photo Session in Jacksonville, FL
The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the best Newborn Photographer in Jacksonville, FL
More about me
I'm Rebecca! Fine Art Jacksonville maternity and newborn photographer, wife & mother of three, lover of pastries, and coffee shop fanatic. I'm so glad you found me!
I know this isn’t my typical content. Some might even question why the heck I’m talking about weight or postpartum health on a newborn website at all.
But here’s the thing, most of us are facing this and I want you to know that you’re absolutely not alone. You’re in a completely new and foreign body. Your clothes don’t fit the same and what you did 2 years ago to shed a few summer lb’s is doing nothing now.
We open up instagram and see incredible transformations from every fitness influencer out there. I have friends who have dropped 60+ pounds in a year. There’s always a new hack, weight loss “click bait”.
Eat this everyday.
Do this workout.
Take this supplement.
10k steps.
Drink your water.
Balance blood sugar.
Don’t stress.
Get rest.
But the secret they aren’t sharing with you is that it’s none of those things individually. It’s all of them collectively.
It’s staying the course even when one WHOLE ENTIRE YEAR in you’re only down 28lbs since before giving birth (because you gained at least 10lbs with the postpartum insatiable hunger!!). Sure it’s progress but it’s definitely lacking the shock factor.
Here’s what isn’t going to work – giving up because it’s not happening fast enough.
Postpartum health is an uphill battle. We grew a human, sometimes multiple back to back, and our bodies are trying to recalibrate all while living in the midst of regular day to day stress. Add sleep deprivation, the toddler stages, and also somehow trying to feed an entire family on a budget while prioritizing protein. This is no easy feat!!
But progress over perfection. You keep showing up to do the things you know will help your body in the long run and you don’t get sucked into comparison. No two bodies are the same.
And you know what else you need to know? Even if you have 75lbs to lose, get in the photos. I’ve carried the same extra 50-60lbs from my first postpartum to my third and what I regret most of all is not getting into more photos with my babies. Get in the frame, girl, and enjoy this new season that God has blessed you with!
This isn't an investment in vanity. This is an investment in your legacy - what gets passed down to future generations. Maybe even to those you never get a chance to meet.
