Hi there!
The Lie Modern Moms Keep Hearing (And Why It’s Exhausting)
As a Jacksonville newborn, maternity, and family photographer, I spend my days with mothers in every season. And if there’s one thing I’ve noticed, it’s that the moms doing the most often feel like they’re not doing enough.
I ordered a supplement on Amazon this morning and scrolled to find videos to see the capsule size (I LOATHE taking pills) only to realize the videos were all very obviously paid ads.
We are being inundated with content to make us believe… “my life will be better if..”
It’s not true. Fruit is still a healthy snack. Eggs are still a source of protein. Store bought sour dough (shoutout Aldi for having the best but Costco sells a close second) is still a healthy bread choice.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with decorating your kid’s room or buying packaged snacks you kids love.
But there is an underlying narrative that doing this makes you a better mom.
Here’s the real truth: “…all our righteous acts are like filthy rags…” (Is. 64:6b)
We do our best and commit those works to the Lord, allowing him to mold and shape our children for His glory.
This isn't an investment in vanity. This is an investment in your legacy - what gets passed down to future generations. Maybe even to those you never get a chance to meet.
