Whether we’re shooting at the beach in the summer, a beautiful park in the springtime, or a studio in the winter – always always take into consideration the background before choosing your outfits!
For example, we don’t want to dress our family in mostly greens if we’ll be at a park because the park itself has plenty of that! So err toward complementing the greens of the park with beiges, light browns, linens, whites, and even some light wash denim.

Let’s say you choose to document your family in a studio. The backdrop might be all white, but that doesn’t mean we can throw aesthetics to the wayside. Still work on complementing your outfit colors together. I always tell mom – pick your dress first and then style everyone else around your outfit! And of course, I am always available to my clients for help choosing what to wear as well as giving them access to a small client closet of boutique dresses.
If mom is wearing white, we don’t want everyone else wearing white. Too matchy matchy. But we can throw in some subtle patterns on baby with a beautiful Nothing Fits But bubble and have dad wear light wash jeans with a textured henley

My biggest tip for helping put together outfits is a short list of Do’s and Don’ts
Do:
Wear lighter colors
Put girls in dresses
Put boys in khakis or linen pants
Have dad choose a light wash denim if he doesn’t like khakis
Mix in different textures
Keep patterns subtle
Don’t:
Wear black
Wear sneakers
Show logos
Wear all bright colors
Combine patterns
