As a Jacksonville newborn photographer, I’m always chatting with parents about more than just photos. We swap recommendations for pediatricians, parks, coffee shops… and one question comes up all the time:
“Where can we actually eat with kids without feeling stressed?”
Whether you have a toddler who needs to burn energy or a newborn who sleeps best in the stroller, these are some of my favorite family-friendly spots around Jacksonville.

1. Wicked Barley Brewing Company
This is one of Jacksonville’s best spots for families. The huge outdoor space overlooks the water, there’s plenty of room for little ones to move around, and the kids’ menu is actually good. Parents get great food while kids stay entertained.
If you haven’t discovered the Mandarin location yet, you’re missing out. The outdoor playground is a lifesaver while you wait for your pizza, and the chalk walls keep kids busy long after they’ve finished eating. It’s one of those rare restaurants where parents can actually finish a conversation.
Don’t let the word “brewery” fool you this place was practically designed for families. Inside you’ll find toys, an outdoor play area, and a welcoming atmosphere where kids are encouraged to be kids. Food trucks rotate regularly, making every visit a little different. In fact, the St Mark’s MomCo chapter held their end-of-year party here & it was a hit!!
Fishweir has become one of my favorite neighborhood hangouts. They regularly host community events, family-friendly gatherings, and seasonal activities. The spacious backyard and game areas make it easy to relax while the kids stay entertained.
This newer Jacksonville favorite has quickly become known for its dedicated kids’ play area, family atmosphere, and thoughtful touches like diapers and wipes stocked in the restroom. It’s clear they truly thought about parents when designing the space.
If you’re heading toward Ponte Vedra, Valley Smoke has a huge lawn where kids can run while adults enjoy barbecue and live music. Bring a blanket and make an evening of it.
This local favorite serves creative sandwiches in a casual setting that’s perfect for families. Service is quick, portions are generous, and there’s enough variety to satisfy everyone.
Sometimes simple is best. Metro Diner (Hendricks) is consistently family-friendly, offers a great kids’ menu, and serves breakfast all day—a huge win if your toddler decides pancakes are the only acceptable food. Our favorite breakfast spot to hit on a Saturday morning & let the kids eat off our gigantic plates of food! Bonus, it’s just a mile or so up the road from Alexandria Oaks Park to let the kids run & play.
Need coffee more than dinner? Southern Grounds is a favorite for parents meeting up after morning activities. Plenty of seating, delicious coffee, and kid-friendly meal options make it an easy choice. Sometimes even I order the kids quesadilla with fries on the side! LOL
Colorful décor, fun pizza options, and a relaxed atmosphere make this an easy family dinner spot when nobody wants to cook. Plus the location in Avondale has a fire truck area to sit! What is more kid friendly than that?!
As a Jacksonville newborn photographer, I know getting out of the house with little ones can feel like an accomplishment all by itself. Finding places where your children are genuinely welcomed makes those outings so much more enjoyable.
Whether we’re planning your newborn session, celebrating your baby’s first birthday, or updating family portraits, I love sharing local recommendations that make life with young children a little easier.
If you’re looking for a relaxed, baby-led photography experience in Jacksonville, I’d love to help you preserve this season before it slips away. After your session, maybe celebrate with a pizza at V Pizza or let the kids play while you enjoy a drink at Myrtle Avenue Brewing. You’ve earned it!
This isn't an investment in vanity. This is an investment in your legacy - what gets passed down to future generations. Maybe even to those you never get a chance to meet.
